On 4 October 2019, the Liechtenstein Parliament passed the Act on Notaries in a second reading. The law closes an essential gap for services in legal transactions and finally eliminates the competitive disadvantages existing in this area. The Act on Notaries now provides the legal basis for the exercise of the profession of Notaries in Liechtenstein and for the first time permits public certifications, notarizations, and the establishment of enforceable titles by Notaries in Liechtenstein. Nicolas Reithner, the initiator of the Act on Notaries, who has consistently advocated the introduction of the Act on Notaries deserves special recognition.

The Notarial Act enters into force on 01.01.2020.
